This isn't just about the library. Our Coalition is committed to building a more inclusive and welcoming community. As new projects and initiatives arise, check back here to see our next move.

What Can You Do

  • Attend our meetings and get informed about upcoming actions.

  • Attend education forums and events focused on racism, civil rights, LGBTQIA+ issues, women’s issues, the refugee experience, immigration, and human rights.

  • Ask your organization to become a partner group. Or join one of our partner organizations that aligns with your passion or profession.

  • Write letters to the editor on the side of love and justice rather than exclusion and discrimination.

  • Sign up to be on the Fiscal Court or Library Board monitoring team. You will attend meetings in a Coalition T-shirt and serve as an obvious witness to the proceedings. (No speaking required)

  • Buy a Coalition T-shirt and wear it to public events.

  • Take a training in nonviolent resistance: Bystander Training (NVO), Green Dot Training (New Beginnings), Civil Rights Training (NAACP) and others. Or host a nonviolent resistance training in your organization.

  • Read articles and books by people with experiences really different from yours; let them stretch your mind and heart.

  • Engage a personal practice for our County: Walk the Green Belt mindfully. Pick up garbage on your block. If you’re secular, envision a flourishing County. If you’re religious, pray or meditate for the County.
